Aaliyah was hands down one of my favorite artists and still is. She made a significant mark on the music industry with a undeniable beauty, unique sense or style, and that angelic voice of hers. She will forever be missed. So here is one of my fave songs of her's Back In One Piece ft. DMX from her film Romeo Must Die that premiered in the year 2000. Enjoy!
My hair was relaxed for about seven years before I went natural. And during the majority of that tiem my hair was extremely damaged and thin. I went through years of trying to get my hair back in the state it was in before I began to relax it. So I would cut my hair, it would grow back out to a certain length and then begin to break off again. I repeated the cycle for years and I could not for the life of me figure out why my hair was in such bad shape.
So one day I randomly searched for hairstyles on Youtube which led me to a video of natural hairstyles. As I watched this video featuring some beautiful natural hair in all kinds of styles I was simply amazed. I soon was introduced to this online community of people with natural hair and I was inspired by the hair journeys of some of these women. In November 2008 I made the decision to go natural. I was not only captivated by the beauty of natural hair but I realized that this was the only way I was going to be able to maintain healthy hair again.
October 9, 2009 was my last relaxer and almost six months later on March 25, 2010 I did my big chop!!
I have been natural for around four months and I enjoying watching my hair progress and grow right in front of my eyes. I can't imagine being anything other than natural and I hope to inspire more people to go natural and embrace the hair that God gave them. I have one natural friend and three that are transitioning so something is working!
